James may not have proved lucky at the box-office for newcomer Nisha Kothari, but the actress is quite excited about the way her career is shaping up. After Ramgopal Varma's announcement that he will remake James, the actress is literally on seventh heaven. Was she comfortable redoing a film so soon after it has released, we ask her. "Of course. I am just happy that Ramu sir is directing it," says Nisha. "I am currently shooting for another film titled Go for Ramuji." Didn't she think the remake move was demeaning for the director of James Rohit Jugraj, we wonder. "I don't even want to get into that.
I am an actress, my job is acting and I will stick to that. "Will Shiv be an exact copy of James, we ask the actress. "I don't know about that. All I know is that Ramuji will be directing it". Was she herself happy with James and its director? "Of course, I am happy with the film. It is my first film and that is always something special. It doesn't matter whether it is a hit or a flop. I am also happy with Rohit Jugraj, and I will always remember him as the first Hindi film director I worked with."
Incidentally, Nisha has now made inroads into the Bhatt camp. "Yes, I've signed the Killer which will co-star Emraan Hashmi. I met Mukesh Bhattji and Mahesh Bhattji and they thought I suited the role", she informs. Considering Emraan's reputation for having a kissing scene if every one of his films, would she be willing to do such a scene, we ask. "Of course, not," laughs Nisha. "I have already clarified with the makers and there is to be no kissing scene in the film". What, we enquire, would she do if she was told to do the scene anyways? "There is definitely not going to be a kissing scene", she insists, and adds, "I am not comfortable doing kissing scenes.
Once I am comfortable, only then will I do it". For someone who has done some pretty bold scenes in James, this comes as a contradiction, we point out. "Those scenes were hardly bold", Nisha protests. "I have merely worn some short dresses because my character in the film is a model, that's all."
Is she also moving away from the Ramgopal camp and into the Bhatt camp now? "I am doing two films with Ramu and one film with the Bhatts. There is no campism", asserts the actress. "I am an actress and I will work wherever I get a good film. If I like a script, I will obviously do it."
